FAQ’s – Kitesurf Safari

If you don’t reach the targeted number of people for the trip, will it be canceled?

We suggest that you wait until the 1st of December (which is the cutoff date for booking the trip) to book your air ticket, that way if it’s not financially viable to run the tour due to lack of bookings we will just refund your 50% booking deposit

What kitesurfing gear should I bring?

Kites: Cape Town generally has a very strong South Easterly wind, blowing around 25 to 35 knots every day, although you may have some lighter days between. I suggest you pack your favorite small kite 6m or 7m, 9m or 10m and 12m.

Wetsuits: Cape Town has the Atlantic Ocean (Cold) and the Indian Ocean (Warmer) if you must choose one for space reasons I’d take your warmest wetsuit typically people wear 4.3 in the Atlantic and a shorty for the Indian.

Can we put a deposit down to hold a spot  and pay in full by the due date ? How far in advance do we need to book the optional extras, or can we wait till we get there to see how the wind conditions are for the additional flexibility.

Yes you can pay a 50% deposit to book your space now, and the balance on the 1st of December when you book your air fare. I would wait until you get to Cape Town to book your optional extras unless you want to do things like shark cage diving then you may need to book that in advance and you might miss a day of kitesurfing.

Looks like we will be sharing a house, how close is shopping and nightlife ? Are cabs available ?

Most things are just down the road in walking distance and if you need to get into town, there is always Uber and the Metro bus. It takes about 20 min to get into town from Blouberg.

Do I need to get any particular vaccinations in advance ?

Doctors in the US will tell you to take Malaria precautions but the truth is that we don’t have Malaria in South Africa so you don’t need anything really. But speak to your doctor if you are unsure.
